The reasons why I go to the sauna every day for a digital detox

Since I started living in the northern part of Sweden in Jan.2023, I have been experiencing a lot of Swedish / Scandinavian culture.

What I found was that I am so into Sauna now; I have got monthly access with only 395kr (approximately 4€), and I have been going there at least 4 times a week; if the weather is not brutal like a snowstorm, then I go there every day.

By the way, if you haven’t read the below article about my first sauna experience in Sweden, please take a look at it.

The Sauna culture in Sweden is just amazing because...

Sauna is a great place to get to know people

(Me and Estonian friends of mine)

When I go to the sauna, in most cases, I go with my friends because Sanna is a very calm place and it is a perfect environment too and to have a conversation.

I usually go with my Estonian friends who also love Saunas.

Even though there is a FIKA, chat over a cup of coffee, and culture in Sweden, that sounds like much to get to know.

When I’m in the sauna, I do feel that I am so relaxed, and I can talk about almost everything about myself.

Sauna is the best place for a digital detox

As you may know, I am a big fan of digital detox and even so, sometimes it’s very difficult to focus on digital details because my job is all about computers and Internet stuff, so, after coming to Sweden, I have been paying attention to be able to do the digital detox with kind of forced environment.

When it comes to a forced environment for a digital detox, I think Santa is a perfect environment to do the digital detox because it is a sauna, and you can’t bring in digital devices.

In the earlier post, I shared some tips to start a digital detox with small steps, but after coming to Sweden, I have found that the sauna is a very easy way to go into the serious digital detox habit.

I have published a post about going to a park for a digital detox, but I just also realized a sauna is also a wonderful place to do the digital detox.

The digital detox method "going to the park with no device" is so easy to do

Sauna has lots of positive health effects

I think I don’t need to talk about this in detail because you may have found that going to Sana constantly has a lot of positive health effects.

I promised myself that I go to the sauna at least four times a week, ideally every day though, because after I get out of the sauna, I feel like my body is warm from my bone.

According to the National Library of Medicine, "Facilities offering sauna bathing often claim health benefits that include detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation. However, rigorous medical evidence to support these claims is scant and incomplete, as emphasized in a recent multidisciplinary review of sauna studies."

(Quoted from Clinical Effects of Regular Dry Sauna Bathing: A Systematic Review)

It seems like we are not 100% sure that a sauna is definitely good for our health, but we can expect further medical research to be conducted.

Thanks for reading and I hope this will be the reason to start the sauna habit for a digital detox.

THE SAUNA IS FUN!!!
