Coffee is the meaning of my life.
This time, I would like to introduce a sustainable coffee shop in Sweden "BALCK COFFEE".
Paying the producers more than a market price
I was so surprised that BALCK COFFEE pays 124% more than the market price for this specific producer in Costa Rica.
Being sustainable regarding financial transparency in the coffee industry is very hard.
Paying to the farmers is actually a cost from the perspective of the coffee roasters but recently many coffee roasters try to pay more than the market price for a sustainable deal.
Personally, I agree with this attitude because if the producers can not produce coffee beans due to financial difficulty, then the consumers will not be able to drink coffee.
Some have told me that 13€ for 250g of roasted coffee beans is expensive, but I do not think that way.
We should think about the fact that we can buy 250g of coffee beans on our way home with only 13€ after hard work on quality control by farmers, green bean importers, and roasters.
Costa Rica Los Torres
Producer: Mario Urena Rojas
Variety: Yellow Catuai
Process: Full Honey
Taste: Molasses and clementine
Roast Level: Light Medium
Product Link: Los Torres
This time, I went for slightly close to the medium roast although I prefer lightly roasted beans.
Sugar-like molasses taste with clementine / bright orange was just amazing and I have never experienced it before.
