BALCK COFFEE is one of the sustainable coffee shop in south Sweden

Coffee is the meaning of my life. This time, I would like to introduce a sustainable coffee shop in Sweden "BALCK COFFEE". Paying the producers more than a market price I was so surprised that BALCK COFFEE pays 124% more than the market price for this specific producer in Costa Rica. Being sustainable regarding financial transparency in the coffee industry is very hard. Paying to the farmers is actually a cost from the perspective of the coffee roasters but recently many coffee roasters try to pay more than the market price for a sustainable deal. Personally, I agree with this attitude because if the producers can not produce coffee beans due to financial difficulty, then the consumers will not be able to drink coffee. Some have told me that 13€ for 250g of roasted coffee beans is expensive, but I do not think that way. We should think about the fact that we can buy 250g of coffee beans on our way home with only 13€ after hard work on quality control by farmers, green bean...

Swedish (Scandinavian) minimalism culture is very useful in daily life

I have been living in Sweden for two months now, and I have been immersed in Swedish culture a lot. As I am a serious minimalist, I have realised that how Swedish people spend their life is quite close to the idea of minimalism. So, in this article, I would like to focus on why the Swedish lifestyle is very close to minimalism and how we can apply it to our own life. The recent post about Minimalism  Minimalist lifestyle essentials: do not compensate for the coffee mug 1. Not talkative to the strangers When I was 20 years old, I lived in the United States and the big difference between the culture of the United States and here is that people normally do not talk to strangers. So if you are travelling to Sweden, I suggest you not talk too much to strangers unless you need some help , because they will feel uncomfortable, and you will also feel. The reason why I thought the culture of not talking to strangers is minimalism is that you are focusing on your own ti...

Nya Konditoriet is a wonderful place to relax in Umeå

I am so glad to introduce you to another great place to enjoy delicious pastries in Umeå. Nya has been offering great quality pastries for almost a century. Now, I am also one of them policed by their pastries. The best bakery cafe in Umeå Nya Konditoriet started its serving in 1927 and this place is famous for preparing the pastries for the Nobel Prize dinner down in Stockholm. The Swedish traditional pastry " Kanelbulle ", Cinamon Roll, is one of their signature pastries, and the taste was extraordinarily delicious. Sugar on top of the whole cinnamon roll is pretty much Swedish and I see this type of Cinamon Roll quite often in downtown and supermarket.  The stairs that lead you to the second floor are no more than flat since almost 100 years have passed since the visitors started using them. There are two floors at Nya Konditoriet. The first floor has some seats to sit down and on the pastry shelf, there are a lot of whole cakes and rolls. On the second floo...

The reasons why I go to the sauna every day for a digital detox

Since I started living in the northern part of Sweden in Jan.2023, I have been experiencing a lot of Swedish / Scandinavian culture. What I found was that I am so into Sauna now; I have got monthly access with only 395kr (approximately 4€), and I have been going there at least 4 times a week; if the weather is not brutal like a snowstorm, then I go there every day. By the way, if you haven’t read the below article about my first sauna experience in Sweden, please take a look at it. The Sauna culture in Sweden is just amazing because... Sauna is a great place to get to know people  (Me and Estonian friends of mine) When I go to the sauna, in most cases, I go with my friends because Sanna is a very calm place and it is a perfect environment too and to have a conversation. I usually go with my Estonian friends who also love Saunas. Even though there is a FIKA, chat over a cup of coffee, and culture in Sweden, that sounds like much to get to know. When I’m in the ...

The extreme minimalist wardrobe; 1 hoodie, 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of socks are enough

In my opinion, how you dress is very important in terms of minimalism. The way you dress reflects the way you think. In this post, I’m going to walk you through the way I dress to introduce what extreme minimalist looks like. What is extreme minimalism? In my opinion, an extreme minimalist is a person who narrows down the priority of life, and who also gives up owning most of the things that are commonly owned by many people. I will break down the meaning of this. As I have been writing in this blog, basically minimalism is all about focusing ; this applies to the human relationship you have, the things you have, and the way you approach your own life. The extreme minimalist does this in a very extreme way . For example, one may have a really satisfying life with a really small amount of possession and a few friends. If you have never thought about being a minimalist to enhance your quality of life, you may wonder what is the point of being a minimalist or even an extreme mini...
