How to Get Your Website Indexed by Google Search Console? Manual indexing is important.

In this post, I would like to talk about indexing.

As well as writing skills, indexing is one of the most important topics that you need to know if you are trying to become a professional independent blogger.

Let’s dive into it.

What is Indexing?

Indexing in the blogging industry means letting the search engine (in most cases, Google ) recognize your specific URL.

For example, the below post was the post that I have published yesterday and I have manually indexed this specific URL to the search engine.

https://www.shinjisverige.com/2023/01/start-blog-with-nomoney.html

( The URL looks something like the above usually starting from  HTTPS )

When you manually index your blog post to a search engine, you will use a specific tool called Google Search Console.

Later in this post, I will explain how to use the Google Search Console.

Why Indexing is essential?

The reason why indexing is important is that even if you publish a blog post if the search engine does not recognize your blog post on the Internet, your blog post will not be getting any organic page views on the Internet.

Making your blog post indexed on the Internet is the first step before getting the pageviews so every single post has to be indexed

As in the image above, once you publish a post, Google will quickly review your specific URL.

If there are no technical problems or other problems related to the Google publishing guideline, your blog post will be indexed and can be searched on the Internet.

Again, if your goal is to grow your blog website as your main income resource, getting organic page views from the Internet is the basic and the most important task you have to focus on, so every single post has to be indexed and open on the Internet.

How to get your posts indexed?

If you want to manually index your newly published blog post, there are five steps you want to follow.

  1. Publish a new post ( & copy the URL)
  2. Open Google Search Console
  3. Paste the newly posted post's URL
  4. Request index
  5. Wait for about 24 hours

Let’s take a look at each step with some screenshots of me doing the manual index using the Google Search Console.

Remarks: Do the manual index every single time because it will make you 100% certain that your blog post is indexed every single time.

1. The first step is publishing a post.

When you are done with publishing, you want to copy the full URL of a new post.

( I am sorry that my dashboard is in the Japanese setting)

By the way, if you want to improve your writing skills, please refer to the post "The 10 tips to write better blog posts in 2023" and try to follow all the tips written in this post.

2. Open Google Search Console

This is the top page of the Google Search Console dashboard.

3. Paste the newly posted post's URL (It should look like below)

Now you want to paste the URL of your new blog post to the search box of the Google Search Console dashboard.

4. Request index

(Index requested !!!)

Just simply push the button saying request index.

It will usually take around 24 hours to be indexed, so once you request an index you just wait for a day.

5. Wait for 24 hours

After 24 hours, you want to check whether the requested index is completed or not.

How to check whether the URL is indexed is very simple.

You just have to copy and paste the URL which you requested on the previous day.

If you see 3 green checkmarks, it means your URL is perfectly indexed.

That easy.

Once you understand the whole idea of indexing and how to request an index, it’s just a simple five minutes of work every time you publish a post.

So please do not forget to request the index once you publish a post on the Internet.
