Obscura Coffee Roasters Fukuromachi is the cozzyiest coffee shop in Hiroshima

Obscura Coffee Roasters is the coffee shop that you definitely want to go to if you are traveling to Hiroshima or Tokyo.

For other coffee shops in Japan, please check out here.

Let's take a look at Obscura Coffee Roasters with me.

What's special about Obscura Coffee Roasters?

Two things that I would like to highlight are

  • Unique varieties of coffee purchased directly from farmers
  • The passion for specialty coffee and its traceability

Unique varieties of coffee purchased directly from farmers

Obscura Coffee Roasters started its coffee business in Sangenjaya, Tokyo in 2009.

With the passion to keep purchasing green coffee beans directly from coffee farms around the world, Obscura Coffee Roasters has been offering many types of coffee in Japan.

Even if you are a coffee geek, you will notice that the coffee farm name you see at Obscura Coffee Roasters is unfamiliar to you because they purchase directly so it is natural that you will experience something new from Obscura Coffee Roasters.

Now, they have 4 shops in Tokyo and 2 shops in Hiroshima.

This time, I got a chance to visit Hiroshima so I visited one of Obscura Coffee Roasters located in the area called "Fukuromachi".

The passion for specialty coffee and its traceability

They have been putting effort into purchasing green beans from farmers, meaning they have spent so much time meeting great farmers across the globe.

This is so important for consumers, roasters, and farmers because if the coffee that we drink every day is sustainably procured, we do not have to feel guilty buying that cup of coffee.

Sustainability is the keyword to enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Menu

What they offer looks no different from other specialty coffee shops but the coffee beans are something special that you can expect from Obscura Coffee Roasters.

The medium size is 200 cc, and the large size is 300 cc for the pour-over coffee.

I ordered two pour-over coffee this time.

Rwanda Rugari WS light roasted

Taste note: Lemon, Brown Suger

Ethiopia Chelchele Bekele

Taste note: Cherry, Grapes

They use very cute pottery for the cup as well.

You can order handmade scones as well.

The beans are always available.

They sell 200g bags and you can choose from more than 8 varieties for the souvenir.

If you ask, they can grind them for you.

I found some paper art objects displayed on the shelf.
