You are very rude if you do not know yourself checking your smartphone every 12 minutes in front of your friend.
Let's take a look at the detail of my own experience.
Looking back what's behind life without a smartphone
So basically written in the articles in the category Life Without Phone, I have broken my smartphone accidentally and decided not to have a smartphone anymore.
The first couple of days were fine but I have realized that without a portable digital device, it is very difficult to pay for something, register something, and even listen to music outside.
My conclusion was to purchase the iPad Wi-Fi + SIM model.
I have installed the least apps on the iPad, and even most of the time my iPad is in Airplane Mode without any Internet access.
The only occasion that I use Internet access is when I search the direction, or when I sit down and do the job by myself.
My lifestyle is perfect with only an Airplane Mode iPad with me.
When I am outside I am without Internet access most of the time.
I found how rude you are
According to the article 20 VITAL SMARTPHONE USAGE STATISTICS [2022]: FACTS, DATA, AND TRENDS ON MOBILE USE IN THE U.S., people check their smartphones 96 times a day.
96 TIMES A DAY!!!
Given that you are awake for 18 hours a day, you check your smartphone five times an hour.
Of course, five times an hour is every 12 minutes, even if you are with your friends or if you're eating with your family, this means that you check your smartphone every single 12 minutes.
Don't you think this is too crazy?
I found this because I became a man without a smartphone, and I've got more chances to look around myself.
Then I realized how many people are using their phones while walking, and while being with their friends.
A couple of days ago, I went to lunch with one of my friends, and he was checking his smartphone so frequently.
I have known him for more than 10 years but this was the first time I realized how much his attention is on his phone.
I was so uncomfortable.
Then I realized how rude it is to check the smartphone very frequently in front of the people with whom you are supposed to spend time.
Especially if you are having a day off, why do you have to check your smartphone so often?
I think if you do not check your smartphone for two or three hours, nothing changes at all.
If you want to try to be away from your smartphone as much as possible, here are some articles that you can utilize.
My suggestion: Turn it off when you meet people
My suggestion to enjoy real communication with your friends is to turn off your smartphone when you meet your friends.
You may need your smartphone to meet up with your friend to text each other, but once you are with your friends, why do you need to check your smartphone every second.
If it is difficult to turn your smartphone off when you're with your friends, it is a great idea to involve your friend as well because at the end of the day you guys will stay together for a couple of hours.
