The best specialty coffee shop in Kobe "RIO COFFEE"

I'm so delighted that I can share another great coffee shop on this planet; RIO COFFEE from Kobe, Japan is today's introduction.

About RIO COFFEE

RIO COFFEE was opened by a roaster and barista Mr. Toshimasa Yagi who is well known as the judge of many specialty coffee tournaments in Japan and in other countries.

RIO COFFEE has now 3 shops in Ashiya-Kobe (roastery and headshop), the central Kobe area, and one in Osaka central area.

The headshop is actually a 20 min walk from my home so I frequently go there and enjoy the walk.

Previously, I have written an article about "Glitch Coffee Nagoya" during my stay in Nagoya, and this time, it is time to reveal my lovely hometown "Kobe city".

Other coffee shop articles are here.

Let's jump into the menu.

Menu

They offer quite a wide range of coffee with all the coffee beans roasted freshly.

  • Pour-over ( hot, iced )
  • Cafe Latte ( hot, iced )
  • Oats milk latte ( hot, iced )
  • Espresso tonic
  • Espresso
  • Coffee Leaf Chai tea
  • Decaf available for all drinks

I purchased decaf oats milk latte because I had already enjoyed a cup of coffee before coming here.

This place does not offer so if you are a digital nomad like me, you want to enjoy the time away from your digital devices for a moment.

Carrot cake and other interesting small foods are available as well.

Products deferred season to season.

Interior & Beans availability

The façade of RIO COFFEE is also beautiful architecture.

This is what you see when you step into RIO COFFEE.

The interior is all based on wooden products and I could feel the warmth from the desks and chairs.

Beans are available on this shelf.

They sell 4 to 6 types of coffee beans from medium-dark roasted to light-roasted coffee.

They also sell coffee-related equipment such as electric grinder WILFA (also available on Amazon ), paper filters, and drippers.

There is a chart on the wall telling us which beans to choose depending on our feeling.

What I love about going to the coffee shops is that I can have a chat with baristas about coffee beans and local areas of the coffee shops and so on.

You can touch and smell each coffee bean and ask the barista about the story of each coffee bean and farm.

When I visit a new place, how I reach the local information is very simple; I always ask locals.

Searching on the Internet can help you very much but sometimes, the interesting info or places are not on the Internet and only the locals know about it.
