The best specialty coffee shop in Nagoya "Glitch Coffee Nagoya"

If I should introduce one best specialty coffee shop in Nagoya, it will be Glitch Coffee Nagoya.

If you are a coffee geek visiting Nagoya, this place is going to be one of your wishes on the bucket list.

Glitch Coffee Nagoya will blow your mind

A couple days ago, I have got a chance to visit Nagoya.

When I visit a city for the first time, I always try to find good coffee shops.

Glitch Coffee Nagoya provides 10+ types of light-roasted specialty coffee.

I had 2 days of my stay in Nagoya and have tried out 4 types of pour-over coffee, so let's take a quick look at the coffee that I have enjoyed.

About Glitch Coffee Roasters

Glitch Coffee Roasters was first founded in Jimbocho, Tokyo in 2015 with its strong will to spread the beauty of the light-roasted coffee culture in Japan.

In 2015, light-roasted specialty coffee wasn't as popular as now, and Glitch Coffee is known as one of the most inspiring coffee roasters in Japan.

I have also included Glitch Coffee in the article "The 10 Best Specialty Coffee in Tokyo 2022",

Now as of 2022, Glitch Coffee has 3 shops in Tokyo (Head & Roasting shop), Nagoya, and Osaka.

Some coffee beans are directly traded with the coffee farm and are rare to find at other coffee roasters.

Astonishing brightness and sweetness in the coffee

This time, I stayed 2 days in Nagoya so I tried out 4 types of pour-over coffee that I would like to introduce.

The types of coffee that I had a chance to meet this time were...

  1. Colombia Risaralda Milan
  2. Coolombia Risaralda La Riviera Geisha
  3. Yemen Haraz Ghalib Alhamasi
  4. Ethiopia Sidamo Tamiru Tadesse (Under screen)

Colombia Risaralda Milan

I could have an option called "tasters-cup" in which you can choose 2 types of beans with half amount for each to enjoy the comparison.

I talked a bit with the barista to find out the best comparison and I took Colombian comparison.

Origin: Colombia
Area: Risaralda
Farm: Milan
Altitude: 1,600m
Process: Culturin
Variety: Castillo, Niu
Taste Note: Peach, Lychee, White Chocolate, Sweet, Complex, Improve

The taste that I enjoyed the most was the brightness of the peach and the round sweetness of white chocolate.

This one is absolutely worth trying.

Colombia Risaralda La Riviera Geisha

Origin: Colombia
Area: Risaralda
Farm: La riviera
Altitude: 1,700m
Process: Natural
Varity: Geisha
Taste Note: Perfume, Rose, Pineapple, Orange, Acerola, Raspberry, Lemon Candy, Long Finish, Improve

So the comparison was in farms between Colombia La Riviera Geisha and Milan.

Both farms had their own brightness and fruitness but were significantly different.

Legendary Geisha, Geisha is said to be the most elegant variety of all and gives you a great impression all the time, so if you see the word "Geisha", it means "dedefinitelyfinately worth trying"

The clean flavor that I noticed from Riviera Geisha was "clean acerola" and "lemon candy".

In good meaning, the coffee from Glitch Coffee is always unusual

Yemen Haraz Ghalib Alhamasi

Origin: Yemen
Area: Haraz
Farm: Ghalib Alhamasi (ancient typica )
Altitude: 1,700m-2,240m
Process: Natural Anaerobic
Variety: Mocha Ja'adi
Taste Note: Rose, Tropical, Plum Wine, Whisky, Cacao nib, Rum Raisin, Syrupy, Clean cup, Long Sweet After

This one is also mind-blowing.

Due to political and other difficult reasons, the coffee bean export from Yemen is basically really hard, so Yemenian coffee is absolutely one of the rare finds, so when you see it, I do recommend you try it out.

As the temperature of coffee drops down, the taste of wine and whisky becomes much clearer.

Ethiopia Sidamo Tamiru Tadesse (Under screen)

Origin: Ethiopia
Area: Sidamo
Producer:Tamiru Tadesse
Altitude: 2,380-2,470m
Process: Natural
Variety: 74165
Taste Note: Floral, Unshu Mikan, Grape tea, Pepper, Dates, Black Cherry, Improve, Sweet Finish

Under screen means the size of the coffee beans is a little bit smaller than the average coffee size.

This does not mean coffee is whethemustr good or bad, it simply means the size of the coffee beans.

One thing to note about Tamiru Tadesse is "the sweetness of dates with the pepper on it" and "acidity of Japanese Orange unshu mikan and Grate tea".

Sidamo is one the most popular coffee-producing areas in the world and you can find pretty easiliy the coffee in this area.

An altitude higher than 2,000m is comparatively high which means rich acidity can be expected in most cases.
