As a true coffee geek and ex-coffee business owner, I thought I am very suitable to introduce some easy-to-go coffee culture in Japan.

Let's go to Seven-Eleven in Japan!

The freezer sells cups of coffee packed with ice cubes.


When you step into Seven-Eleven to buy coffee, you will have two options; any type of hot coffee or any type of iced coffee.


As going through the article, I will go deep in detail all about the coffee from Seven Eleven.

If you are at Seven-Eleven, they usually have two lineups for the black coffee.

  • Blue-coloured cup (upper quality)
  • White colored cup (standard quality)

I made the table to make it easy to compare the prices.


The most expensive one from seven eleven is Large size Iced Caffe Latte and it is still 290JPY which is almost 2€.


Because you can reach the coffee 24/7, it is not that expensive right???

How to purchase coffee from seven eleven.



OK, so now I will quickly introduce how to buy coffee.

The procedure will be a bit different depending on whether you are getting iced or hot.

How to buy iced coffee



  • Choose the type (upper? standard? latte?) and size (Regular? Large?)
  • Bring it to the cashier and make a payment
  • Go to the coffee machine and push the right button*
  • Your coffee will be brewed in a minute!

How to buy hot coffee


1. Buy the cup from the cashier. 
    You can simply tell you want to buy a cup of coffee.



Here is how to ask. 
EN: I would like to buy a cup of coffee
JP: Coffee Kudasai (コーヒーください)

and then, the clerk will ask you the type and size so you just can simply point to the one you want with your finger.

2. place your cup on the machine.
    If you do not know which machine to use, you can always ask the clerk.




3. Close the machine and push the button.




4. Be steady

How does it taste anyway?


As a previous coffee business owner, I am very strict about giving a high reputation for the coffee and I am a truly picky coffee drinker.

But, I would like to give 4 out of 5 for the upper lineup coffee from seven eleven.


The taste is not too acidic like the lightly roasted specialty coffee, but not too dark as espresso.

I feel like this is the roasting level that can be loved by quite a range of people.


I sometimes drink the standard type (the white cup) as well and I give 4 out of 5 to that one as well.

Considering the standard type is just 110JPY, I definitely give 4 out of 5!!!

I happened to go to Seven-Eleven and found out that they have a new coffee lineup.

The coffee is "Blue Mountain" which usually means great quality premium coffee.

This one comes with a black cup and the pricing was 220 JPY for the regular size.


Although this one is not a specialty coffee, the quality was amazing with the deep bitterness and rich body.
